Three Shortlisted for Young Sports Personality Prize
Announced recently
English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.
These three athletes have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the very first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a unprecedented innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his sensational debut year.
The finalists were announced live on a widely-listened-to radio show.
The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.
The ceremony will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.
Agyemang's Profile
Age: 19 Sport: Football
A mere three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.
She came off the bench to score crucial late equalisers in both the knockout stage games.
These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.
Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.
She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.
He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.
And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."
The Cricket Sensation
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and rose to fame with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.
Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.
It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.
Perrin came in second place in the run-scoring charts and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it inspires more young women to get into cricket."
