Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.
And both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.
Edwards is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.
However the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the position.
The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.
Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in December last year.
The ex- West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
