Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.

Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
