Cars in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were contacted by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then located many other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

An important representative stated the attack made him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
