British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed its support for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
